Vanilla Ice – An American rap artist from the 1990’s. Vanilla Ice will be playing at JD Legends on September 6th. I bet many of you who are Vanilla Ice fans wonder what he has been up to over the years. Here are a few fun tidbits about the 1990’s rapper:
• His real name is Robert Van Winkle
• He has 2 kids
• In the late 1980’s, Vanilla Ice was the main attraction in his hometown’s predominately black dance clubs. This is how he got his start.
• He is mostly known for his songs “Play That Funky Music” and “Ice Ice Baby”
• His 1991 musical hit “Ice Ice Baby” was the first rap single to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts
• In 1991 Vanilla Ice was chosen as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People In the World
• Vanilla Ice toured with MC Hammer and that is who he modeled his clothing style after
• In 1991 Vanilla Ice appeared in the movies Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze and he also appeared in Cool As Ice
• Between 1992 and 1994, under his real name Robert Van Winkle, he dropped out of the music world and pursued motor cross racing
